My 2012 MLB All-Star Teams

Today is the day that the MLB All-Star teams will be announced. As always there are some snubs in the game. Guys that deserve to start, sometimes get snubbed by guys that belong in reserve roles. Guys that deserve a reserve role are kept off the team entirely. This is why fan voting should be banned because all it is, is a popularity contest. Not everybody votes for the best player at each position, they vote for the biggest name at each position. If you have a panel of voters and/or the managers and players vote, the teams would look way better.

As a New York Mets fan, I’ve always, no matter what, voted for the best players at each position for the All-Star teams ever since I started to vote. There is no chance you would see me voting for Josh Thole, Daniel Murphy, or Jason Bay for the NL squad just because they play for my favorite team. Fan voting allows the fans to get involved and garners more money for the MLB, but the MLB has enough money and should just abolish fan voting and get the right players on the field. I noticed Evan Longoria, the third baseman for the Tampa Bay Rays, was in the top five for vote getters at third base two weeks ago. How is it possible that a player with a torn hamstring, that hasn’t played since April, is in the top five? It makes no sense.

Anyways, here are my All-Star rosters. If you agree or disagree, leave a comment.
